It’s getting HOT HOT HOT!
If there’s one thing we can all agree with, it’s that air conditioning is a must-have to survive the steamy summer months in Brissy! Whilst the decision to install air conditioning is often an easy one, the process of choosing a good installer is not!
An air conditioning installation is not always an easy process. There is a lot to be considered and often a lot than can go wrong. Choosing the right business to install your air conditioner can mean the difference between a seamless installation process and months of ongoing issues!
You will find that there are an overwhelming number of options when it comes time to choose an installer, so we have put together a few tips on how to ensure you make an informed decision.
Here are some things to consider:
Are they licenced?
Unfortunately, installing an air conditioner isn’t one of those jobs that you can ‘have a crack at’ yourself or even ask your ‘handy man’ friend to help with. Due to air conditioning units having refrigerant (gas) there are a lot of rules that need to be followed by installers otherwise HUGE penalties could be enforced. To give a guide, a split system air conditioning unit must be installed by someone who has the following qualifications:
1. Split System Air Conditioning Certificate.
2. ARCTick licence.
3. Electrical licence (to perform authorised work required for air conditioning circuits).
Simply ask the company during the quoting stage for their qualifications (electrical licence, ARCtick number) or check for yourself at www.lookforthetick.com.au to ensure the company has the correct licence.
Are they recommended?
You no longer have to roll the dice to know whether a company is trustworthy or not. A good way to identify a quality business is by looking at their reviews and recommendations online and read through the experience other customers have had. You will quickly know whether a company is delivering a quality service and good workmanship. Customers often rave about great companies, if you can’t find any online evidence of raving reviews or recommendations, move onto another installer!
How long have they been in business?
Be wary of businesses with less than a few years’ experience under their belts or ones that focus heavily on price as oppose to quality. A few signs to be cautious of when researching businesses include:
- Hard to find contact details
- Advertising heavy discounts – particularly on Facebook!
- Unclear or no warranty information
The last thing you would want is to use a Company that dissolves in a few months leaving you with no recourse for repair or warranty should an issue arise with your air conditioning unit! It’s not worth the risk.
It is human nature to want the best deal on the service or product you buy. However, with air conditioning installations, you will often get what you pay for. Our recommendation is to get at least two quotes. If a quote is more expensive, ask the installer why. There may be some valid reasons (better installation practices) incorporated into the quote pricing.
As you can see, a few simple questions could save you a lot of unnecessary stress, time and money when selecting the right person to install your air conditioning system.
